In the media today there is a big controversy over who is at fault of the death of The King of Pop, Michael Jackson. According to the New York Times some blame Dr. Conrad Murray for the death of Michael Jackson; others seem to leave Michael Jackson at fault for his death due to his addiction to prescription medications. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/27/us/27murray.html?ref=usMichael Jackson died at the age of 50 on June 25 of 2009 due to cardiac arrest. In August of this year police have now ruled Michael’s death as a homicide. An MSNBC article Coroner rules Jackson’s death a homicide states:
"The Los Angeles County coroner has ruled Michael Jackson’s death a homicide, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press, a finding that makes it more likely criminal charges will be filed against the doctor who was with the pop star when he died on June 25." "Forensic tests found the powerful anesthetic propofol acted together with at least two sedatives to cause Jackson’s death June 25 in his rented Los Angeles mansion, according to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the findings have not been publicly released."
Dr. Conrad Murray was Michael’s physician and is under investigation of manslaughter. He was the doctor on duty the night and morning of Michael's death. After giving him multiple drugs to help put him asleep the doctor gave him propofol, which essentially lead to his death. Dr. Murray stated that he only gave Michael propofol after “repeated demands/requests” and this was also after he had started with “10-milligram tab of Valium, Murray said he tried a series of drugs instead of propofol to make Jackson sleep. The injections included two milligrams of lorazepam around 2 a.m., two milligrams of midazolam around 3 a.m., and repeats of each at 5 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. respectively.”http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32542682/
As a doctor, Murray should have known that he was exceeding the limits with all those drugs and then propofol on top of that. He had been giving Michael Jackson propofol on a regular night basis leading up to the night of his death. Even if Michael repeatedly asked for propofol, Dr. Murray should have explained that this was not a proper way of going about with the issue of insomnia.
MSNBC also states that Dr. David Zvara had something to say about all of this, “There’s no surprise there” that death could result from such a combination, said Dr. David Zvara, anesthesia chairman at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. “All those drugs act in synergy with each other,” Zvara said. Adding propofol on top of all the other sedatives “tipped the balance.”
Although the doctor was wrong in what he did, I do not 100% blame him for Michael Jackson’s death. As a doctor he should have began Michael of on different medications or different safer procedures to help him with his insomnia. In saying that Michael Jackson is the king of pop and he wanted the drugs and if Dr. Murray would not of prescribed the medicine Michael would have found a doctor who would. I honestly believe that if he wanted it bad enough he would have found it. Someway, somehow he would have found a way to obtain the medications he wanted.

I agree with you about him going to another doctor or pharmacist who would offer up the drugs if this one didn't. It also probably has something to do with the personal physician receiving something like 150 thousand dollars a month. Some people will do anything, even if it goes beyond their ethical code and logical thinking if large sums of money are involved.
